The Platinum Izumo is an outstanding example of Japanese craftsmanship, and, as such, is recognized by Izumo City as one of the "Izumo brands". Each Izumo fountain pen is hand coated with multiple layers of urushi, then polished to a high shine.

This Soratame edition features 40 layers of green lacquer followed by 40 layers of black lacquer. As a living material, the urushi finish on the Izumo Soratame will become more beautiful with time and use.
