We are delighted to announce the launch of S.T. Dupont's latest limited edition collection, a tribute to arguably the greatest writer in the English language and the world's greatest dramatist, William Shakespeare. Born in 1564 and raised in Stratford-upon-Avon, England, William Shakespeare was a poet, playwright, and actor. He is often called England's national poet and the "Bard of Avon". His extant works, consist of some 39 plays and 154 sonnets. S.T. Dupont pays homage to Shakespeare, with a fine writing and lighter collection limited to 1564 pieces, the writer's birth-year.

S.T. DUPONT SHAKESPEARE COLLECTION

A pen is not only a beautifully designed object, but the strongest way to communicate thoughts and ideas. The Shakespeare pen collection is hand-crafted at the S.T. Dupont workshop in Faverge, France. Each pen receives over 150 handcrafted operations and controls to ensure writing perfection. Made from brass and lacquered with natural Urushi lacquer, the pen is adorned with distinguishing features celebrating the life of Shakespeare:

  • Pen Cap: Enriched with handwritten lines from an original William Shakespeare memorandum, painted in lustrous natural brown lacquer with glitter dust.
  • Pen top: S.T. Dupont was inspired by one of Shakespeare's most famous plays, Hamlet. The plot begins with the ghostly apparition of Hamlet's father, king of Denmark, and explores the theme of revenge. In this play, Shakespeare personifies death, the inevitable, by the Yorick skull. This symbolic skull can be found on all items of the collection and is set into the cap top.
  • Pen Clip: Dedicated to the famous decree by English author, Edward Bulwer-Lytton (1839), that the "The pen is mightier than a sword." The phrase is embedded in modern philosophy and underscores the influence of thinking and writing on people and events over the use of force or violence. Shakespeare, during Act 2, Scene 2 of Hamlet wrote: "... many wearing rapiers are afraid of goosequills." A phrase that has close parallels with Edwards later written English proverb. S.T. Dupont represents this notion with an entirely new articulated clip, shaped like a sword, with an S.T. Dupont "D" handle.
  • Shakespeare's signature is replicated on the brown natural lacquer of the pens barrel.

Available in fountain pen, rollerball, and ballpoint pen. The fountain pen and rollerball cap close and posts with the S.T. Dupont iconic 'click' to echo their famous lighter 'ping' sound. The fountain pen is enhanced with the S.T. Dupont 14kt gold nib.

Each pen or lighter is presented in a beautiful black lacquered box.
