Monteverde MP1 Starry Night - Fine Art Series

Monteverde USA has spent more than 25 years developing writing instruments that bring together reliable craftsmanship, innovative design, and creative individuality. With a diverse selection of fine pens and colorful inks, the brand serves everyone from dedicated collectors to writers who appreciate quality in their everyday writing tools.

The MP1 Fine Art Series introduces an artistic interpretation of Monteverde’s first piston-filling fountain pen. While the original MP1 features anodized finishes, these special editions showcase detailed reproductions of renowned artworks using an advanced high-resolution printing technique. The result is a distinctive combination of fine writing performance and visual artistry.

The Monteverde MP1 Starry Night Numbered Edition features imagery inspired by Vincent van Gogh’s famous 1889 painting, The Starry Night. Each pen carries its own individual number, making it a distinctive addition to the Fine Art Series.

Van Gogh’s painting is celebrated for its dramatic movement, vivid colors, and expressive interpretation of the night sky. Rich blue tones flow through sweeping cloud formations, while bright yellow stars and a glowing moon create striking points of light. The artwork’s energetic patterns and layered colors are reproduced across the pen, giving the instrument a dynamic appearance from every angle.

A defining feature of the MP1 is its integrated grip section and transparent barrel, manufactured as a single, seamless component. This construction offers a comfortable, natural hold while allowing the ink supply to remain visible. Its clear body also provides a visual counterpoint to the colorful exterior artwork, combining functional design with an appealing presentation.

Important: The front section is permanently joined to the barrel and must not be unscrewed.

The pen is fitted with a precision-made stainless-steel cap and a lightweight aluminum blind cap. The steel cap provides a durable foundation for the detailed Starry Night design and offers resistance to everyday wear and corrosion. Applying the artwork requires a controlled, multi-step printing procedure to reproduce the painting’s intricate color transitions and flowing details.

A rich, solid-color lacquer finish on the aluminum blind cap complements the artwork while helping maintain the pen’s overall balance. The cap also houses Monteverde’s Lock-It™ piston mechanism, which helps keep the piston securely in position and reduces the risk of unintended movement during use or storage.

Writing is handled by a premium #6 JoWo stainless-steel nib, designed for dependable ink delivery and a smooth writing experience. A plasma-treated feed supports consistent ink flow for different writing preferences and applications.

The built-in piston-filling mechanism allows the pen to draw ink directly from a bottle, without requiring disposable cartridges. Its 2 ml polycarbonate reservoir provides ample capacity for longer writing sessions and helps minimize the need for frequent refilling. Whether used for journaling, note-taking, sketching, or personal correspondence, the MP1 is designed to support a variety of creative pursuits.

Each MP1 Starry Night Numbered Edition is assembled at Monteverde’s California, USA headquarters, where attention is given to assembly, quality checks, and mechanical precision.

Combining an iconic artistic inspiration with modern fountain-pen engineering, the Monteverde MP1 Starry Night Numbered Edition offers collectors and writing enthusiasts a distinctive way to enjoy fine art beyond the traditional canvas.
