The Platinum Izumo is an outstanding example of Japanese craftsmanship, and, as such, is recognized by Izumo City as one of the "Izumo brands". Each Izumo fountain pen is hand coated with multiple layers of urushi, then polished to a high shine.

This Akatame edition features 40 layers of vermillion lacquer followed by 40 layers of black lacquer. As a living material, the urushi finish on the Izumo Akatame will become more beautiful with time and use.

The Akatame sports Platinum's 18K, two-tone gold President nib and arrives in an elegantly simple wooden box with a pen kimono.
