This exquisite pen is a Danitrio Mikado Flat Top in a Black Urushi with Gold Powder finish, representing one of the brand's largest and most impressive fountain pen series. The Mikado, meaning "Emperor," is an oversized model built on a hand-turned Japanese Ebonite core, providing ample surface area to showcase its traditional Japanese lacquer art, known as Maki-e. The pen's profile is characterized by a slightly bulbous barrel and distinctly flattened ends on the cap and barrel, justifying the "Flat Top" designation. The mesmerizing finish is achieved by covering the body in deep black Urushi (natural lacquer) and then hand-sprinkling fine gold powder onto the wet lacquer, possibly utilizing the Nashiji-nuri (pear-skin) or Ishimeji (stone surface) technique to create its signature glittering, speckled appearance. Completing its luxurious design, the pen features a substantial gold-colored clip and is typically equipped with a large #8, 18k gold nib and a Japanese Eyedropper filling system with an ink shut-off valve.
