Visconti Van Gogh Oiran - Rollerball Pen
Vincent Van Gogh is considered one of the most revered painters in history, and his artistic genius has inspired this unique and breathtaking collection of writing instruments. Visconti has utilized the colors, textures, and expression used so effectively by Van Gogh in his paintings to create the pieces that grace this collection; a tribute to both the artist and impressionist art as a whole. Each year Visconti adds a new model inspired by the most famous paintings of Van Gogh, hoping to ultimately arrive at 12 models.
This collection draws inspiration from one of Van Gogh's most treasured and iconic paintings, the Japonaiserie Oiran, painted in 1887. Van Gogh based this painting on a woodcut by the Japanese artist Kesai Eisen. Japanese printmaking was one of Van Gogh's main sources of inspiration, and he became an enthusiastic collector. The prints acted as a catalyst, Van Gogh exalting the prints as an artistic example and believing them to be equal to the great masterpieces of Western art history. Van Gogh adopted Japanese visual inventions in his own work after collecting hundreds of prints and canvases in the early 1880's. He liked the unusual spatial effects, the expanses of strong color, the everyday objects and the attention to details from nature. And, of course, the exotic and joyful atmosphere.
Made from natural resin uniquely mixed to represent palettes of oil paint, this pen utilizes Visconti's eighteen-faceted design; the many edges enhancing its vivid colors. The meticulous selection of resins and their color mix is one of the major innovations introduced by this line. It is enriched with a dedicated ring decorated with the name of the painting inspiring the pen, and the finial utilizes the famous My Pen System allowing each your pen to be uniquely personalized. The signature clip pays homage to Visconti's origins, drawing its shape from the historic Ponte Vecchio (Old Bridge) in Florence.
