The Izumo Bamboo pens feature finely woven bamboo on the barrel and cap. Japan has a long history of bamboo crafts, which have been passed down through the generations from craftsperson to craftsperson.

This Torafudake (tiger-spotted bamboo) model is made from a type of bamboo parasitized by torafukin bacteria creating the characteristic black spots hat have been prized since the Edo period.  It is finished by being sealed sabiurushi, a traditional Japanese lacquer.
